2013 Pioneer Days in Barnwell

This fun filled week-end is quickly approaching! Download the Pioneer Day Parade and Dualthalon routes and the full Pioneer schedule of events for your reference.  Please specifically note the times and places of each event.  If you don’t care to participate in an event, be sure to come out and be a spectator and cheer for those that do.

We have lots of activities planned for Friday and Saturday:

  • Softball Tournament: Preregister by July 16, beginning at 6PM till dark.  Contact Aaron Edlund at 403-388-4257
  • Movie Outside: Bring chairs, blankets and pillows, back behind the school!
  • The Duathlon and 2K Walk/Run – Get your bikes and your running shoes ready for a short bike race and run.  Download your Race Information and Registration Form and please turn the form into the Village office before July 19. Contact Candice Gibb at 403-223-5744
  • Breakfast in the Park: food courtesy of Barnwell LDS 1st Ward
  • Special Library Event: A special book review of Lady Rancher by author Gertrude Minor Roger. Come and meet this incredible lady!
  • Parade: Put in a float for your family, organization or business.  Decorate your bike, ride your horse — use your imagination! Download the parade route.
  • Fun in the Park – This event will have a special appeal to children and will take place in the park after the parade, includes face painting, wagon rides, obstacle and bouncy houses.
  • The Chili Taste-Off –  If you would like to participate in this event, please preregister by July 18 (forms available at Village office).  Register early as only 12 applications will be accepted.  Bring your crock pot full of hot & homemade chili (15 serving size minimum) to the park by 4:50 pm where it will be tasted and judged by our professionals!!  It will then be served as your contribution to the supper meal.
  • Summer Meal: Meat courtesy of the Barnwell LDS 2nd Ward.  Each family should bring a salad or dessert for 15.  If your surname fulls between: A – K bring a salad; L – Z bring a desert.
  • Citizen of the Year: Presentation to the Barnwell citizen of the year.
