New Recycling Pick-up in Barnwell

Along with the changes to garbage pick-up, we are also changing the pick-up day for recycling as well. You will see the recycle trucks out in the village every Friday but they will be picking up half the village each week.

Starting on September 3rd, 2021 pick up will be done on the south side of the village with the old highway being the dividing line. The north side of the village will be picked up on September 10th, 2021 and this will continue alternating each week.

You will find the map for recycling below. You will also receive a calendar indicating which half of the village will have recycle pick-up on which week.

New Garbage Cart System in Barnwell

We are changing things for weekly garbage pick-up! By the end of August or first few days of September, all Barnwell residents will be receiving a garbage cart that belongs with the property. This is what you will use to roll out your garbage to the curb for pick-up.

Pick-up will be every Friday, roll your cart out in the morning and roll it back in the afternoon. If a holiday lands on Friday, garbage pick up will be the next business day.

These bins are for household garbage only!

Do not put any of the following items in your cart: construction/demolition materials, household hazardous wastes, animal carcasses or any other harmful or hazardous items.

If you have any questions regarding garbage pick-up, please call the office at 403-223-4018.

Barnwell Days 2021 Update

We are so excited to be hosting Barnwell Days again this year and have an event and opportunity to Reunite our Community. A few things to note, there was an oversight on the website initially that indicated that the race and the food trucks were free, and they are not. The race is $10 for 15 and older and $5 for 14 and younger. The Food trucks will have their own pricing.

Almost all the events will be at Willow Park this year except for the Craft Fair and the Parade.

For more information on the schedule or events, please visit our website on the events page.

Things you will need to remember:

Bring your camp chairs so you have somewhere to sit, we will have some tables and chairs available but likely not enough for everyone and having your own chair allows you to find a spot in the shade, it’s going to be hot!

Make sure you have your water bottle with you, there will be drinks for purchase on Saturday with the food trucks but no water bottles supplied.

Also, make sure you bring cash/debit for the food trucks.

The Village will have a table at the craft fair on Saturday to show you what we have been working on as an expansion of Ken Anderson Park, stop by our table to check it out!

Barnwell Day t-shirts will be available for purchase at our table as well for $20 – cash only.

Thanks,

Village of Barnwell

Village of Barnwell New Animal Bylaw

At the February 18th meeting of Village Council, the new Animal Bylaw was passed with the third reading. Council has put in place a 90 day education period before any part of the new bylaw will be enforced by our bylaw officers.

The new bylaw will then be enforced as of May 19, 2021.

Taber / Vauxhall RCMP Detachment Community Consultation

Sergeant Gord Yetman of the Taber/Vauxhall RCMP Detachment wants to hear from local community members in the Taber/Vauxhall RCMP detachment area, who may have any comments and/or concerns about policing issues in the following geographic areas:

  • Municipal District of Taber (general),
  • Hamlet of Grassy Lake,
  • Hamlet of Hays,
  • Hamlet of Enchant,
  • Hamlet of Wrentham,
  • Town of Vauxhall and
  • Village of Barnwell

This information is being collected to assist Sgt. Yetman in determining the top priorities for Taber/Vauxhall Detachment’s upcoming Annual Performance Plan. The Annual Performance Plan is a document that aligns community priorities with the operations of the detachment over the coming year. This year’s plan will be based largely on input from our communities as to priorities they would like to see their RCMP Detachment focus on.

Normally, a Town Hall meeting would have been scheduled to hear any comments, questions or concerns, but due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Sgt. Yetman is accepting input from community members through email.

If you are interested in participating, please contact Sgt. Yetman at:

[email protected] prior to March 2, 2021.

All of the correspondence received will be reviewed with plans to address the top five issues and concerns later in March.

Sgt. Yetman, the members and staff of the Taber/Vauxhall RCMP Detachment thanks everyone in advance for taking the time to participate and share your valued input.
